How do I set up my Email Program?

Well, as near as we can get. The spam filtering system, powered by Cloudmark®, features Advanced Message Fingerprinting™ and real-time threat intelligence to rapidly detect spam, phishing and viruses. Instead of analyzing message text, Cloudmark uses a series of highly sophisticated algorithms to generate fingerprints that precisely identify abuse in all language and formats. This automated approach delivers spam filtering accuracy of 98% or higher together with near zero false positives.
Why 72 hours?
In order to start using Emissary Mail, you will need to make a minor change to your DNS records; your technical people can arrange this for you and we will provide all the information they need. This small change ensures your email will be sent through our servers, benefiting from our spam and virus filtering. This process can take up to 72 hours to fully settle in (it is usually much quicker but this is the "worst-case" limit); this time window is the time it takes the other computers on the Internet to fully update with your new settings.
Where are your servers located?
Our servers are hosted in geographically dispersed data centers owned and managed by Rackspace. We believe Rackspace is the best managed hosting company in the world.
Where do you store your data backups?
We back up all of our data nightly to three geographically dispersed data centers managed by Amazon. We store that data on the Amazon S3 platform.
Can I use my own domain name with your email hosting services?
Yes, all of our customers use their company's domain name as part of their email address (e.g., firstname.lastname@example.org). When you sign up for email hosting services, you can specify an existing domain or create a new one.
If I host email with you can I leave my website where it is?
Yes. This service is exclusively an email hosting service, and so all of our customers' websites continue to be hosted with their existing third party providers. Emissary also provides web hosting and web design and development services - for more information, please visit the Emissary Website.
Can I continue to use Outlook as my email client?
Yes, you can use Outlook, Thunderbird, or any desktop email software. You can also check your email with your wireless device, such as the Palm or BlackBerry. Our email system uses industry-standard POP/IMAP/SMTP connections for sending and receiving email, which gives you the flexibility to use almost any popular email software application.
Can I share calendars through Microsoft Outlook?
Yes, we recently enabled sync with Microsoft Outlook.
Can I migrate email data from my current provider to you?
Yes, we have a team that specializes in data migrations and will work with you to make the transition as easy as possible.
Do you offer wireless email services?
Yes, most mobile devices have the ability to check email through either a POP or IMAP connection, which we support. We also offer Webmail Mobile, which allows you to access your email through any wireless web browser.
